Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills

April 14-16, 2023 at Lost Bayou Scout Camp
This course is a combination of the Scoutmaster Leader Specific and the Intro. to Outdoor Leader Skills. Although it is mandatory for Scoutmasters and Asst. Scoutmasters, the training is highly suggested for every registered leader! The fee for this training is $50.
Scoutmaster Leader-Specific (S24)
Before arriving to camp to do the outdoor portion of the training, all leaders must take and supply a certificate of completion for the online leader-specific training. This training can be found on my.scouting.org.
The purpose of Scoutmaster Leader-Specific training is to provide an active, fun, and positive learning experience for new and experienced Scoutmasters to learn and apply proven techniques for running an effective Scout, BSA troop. Participants will learn how to meet the aims of Scouting by applying the eight methods of the Scouts,BSA program during the four main sessions of the course:
- Patrol Method
- Support Team
- Advancement
- Annual Planning
Intro. to Outdoor Leader Skills (S11)
This training gives adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Imagine having hands-on knowledge of setting up a campsite, pitching a tent, hiking, outdoor cooking - all the skills necessary to see the outdoor program of the Boy Scouts of America come to life.
The skills sessions presented in Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills closely follow the Scout Handbook. These skills sessions in conjunction with the Scout Handbook, leaders will leave proficient in the basic outdoor skills through First Class rank.
