New Cub Scout Leader Training

When and Where do I get trained?

Are you a new Cub Scout leader, or maybe you have changed position in your leadership role (Tiger Den Leader to Wold den leader, etc), then this is the training for you! You now have 3 opportunities to get trained.

  1. Local District Cub Leader Specific Training
Each district will host a training on September 10, 2011 at a central location within the district. Contact your local District Executive for times and locations.
  2. Council hosted Leader Specific Training
The Council will host a training for those persons who may not have been able to attend their local district training. This will happen at Asbury Methodist Church in Lafayette, September 17th - Starting at 8:00am.
  3. On-Line training. Most Cub Scout leader training is now available online, from Fast-Start to Position-Specific Training, you can now get trained on your time schedule. Simply visit www.myscouting.org. You will be required to create a free account, where you will then be able to track your trainings. The Evangeline Area Council, along with Calcasieu and Three Rivers Councils hosted a Wood Badge for the 21st Century Training in April.  The training consists of two full three day weekends, the first conducted indoors at Mt. Bayou Lake Scout Camp, and the second, the "Out Door Experience" at Camp Edgewood. Participants from these councils came together as a Troop and learned many new skills that will help them in their Scouting, business and personal lives. Skills learned include team building, communication, problem solving, managing conflict, and many more important skills. After the training sessions have completed, each participant has a practical phase to complete, where they select "ticket" items to be completed over the following eighteen months. If you are interested in taking part in this most exciting training, please contact the council office for more information. If you know one of the participants, ask them how their "Ticket" is coming along. Click "Read More" for Course Photos Below..
