The Evangeline Area Council's 3rd Annual Atchafalaya Basin tree planting events are scheduled for March 3rd and March 10th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. This year the Scouts of Acadiana are being asked to plant 20,000 new trees!
This year's event will be quite a bit different than our previous events. Instead of one planting site for the whole Council, Scouts will be assigned to plant trees at one of two different sites on either March 3rd or 10th. Please see the information below for important details on the planting locations and dates.
In order to spread our resources across such a large geographical area, this year's event will involve the planting of acorns and seeds instead of traditional tree saplings. This change will allow all parents and siblings to participate and will be easier for younger Scouts to plant. We hope that you enjoy this opportunity to venture into different areas of the Basin while helping to establish trees for its future.
We appreciate your help! If you have any questions, please contact me at (337)235-8551 ex.111 or
