Join Scouting Night - Fall Recruiting Drive

The Executive Board of the Evangeline Area Council is pleased to announce this year's exciting Join Scouting Campaign them, "Score a Touchdown with Scouting!"  What better way to carry off such a theme but to partner with the University of Louisiana's Ragin' Canjuns!

Each new Scout that joins between the start of school in August through September 9th will receive 2 FREE tickets to the Saturday, September 17th home game against Nicholls (a $32 value).  The Ragin' Cajuns are also going to extend special pricing to all other Scouts and Scouting Family and Friends of $10 (regularly $16) per additional ticket. 

The Join Scouting Night promotional fliers and posters will also be emblazoned with the Ragin' Cajun logo and will promote the above mentioned program.....AND....included in the Join Scouting Night registration fee of $20 will be 5 months of membership registration & Boy's Life magazine subscription and their handbook!!!


IMPORTANT JSN SCHEDULING MESSAGE

In order for this plan to work and for our Scouts to participate in the September 17th Ragin' Cajun Scout Night Football Game we need your help to:

Make sure that your Pack's Join Scouting Night takes place between August 22nd and September 2nd!

We are reserving the shortened week of Labor Day (September 6-9) as Join Scouting Night "Make Up Week" in case of inclement weather either of the first two weeks.

Ticket vouchers will still be distributed to Scouts signing up between September 2nd and September 15th but families may not have enough time to coordinate their schedules to participate.

Scouts signing up after September 15th will still pay $20 and receive 4 months of Registration & Boy's Life subscription and Scout handbook.

2011 Schedule and Promotion Plan

By late May, your Pack Leaders should receive the 2011 Join Scouting Night Leaders Guide and samples of the Fliers, Posters, Ragin' Cajun Ticket Vouchers and Scout Handbook Vouchers  

Prior to school letting out for the summer, Packs should have preliminary conversations with Principals regarding Join Scouting Night (share promotional materials, tentatively schedule Join Scouting Night & Boy Talk).  Schools that have multiple Packs recruiting from them should coordinate a joint Join Scouting Night.  Please engage your District Executive early to help facilitate this.

During the summer, coordinating with your District Executive, Packs should finalize their Join Scouting Night schedule with Principal(s) so that fliers and posters can be printed with appropriate JSN dates and delivered to the schools PRIOR to the start of the 2011-2012 school year.  This will allow the first batch of Join Scouting fliers to go home with students on the first day of school with the correct Join Scouting Night information.

During the first or second week of August, all Districts will conduct a Join Scouting Night Training and distribute fliers, posters, yard signs & registration materials (including ticket and handbook vouchers) to Cub Scout Packs.

August 22nd - 26th -- First Join Scouting Night Week.
August 29th - September 2nd -- Second Join Scouting Night Week
September 6th - 9th -- "Make Up" Week (In case of inclement weather either of the first two weeks)  

We are very appreciative of the Ragin' Cajuns participation in this years fall recruitment efforts.  I hope that you too share in our excitement and believe this years recruitment efforts will result in a record number of youth joining Scouts!
