14th Annual St. Landry Parish Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner

When: May 14, 2012

Where: Wolff Hall, 202 North Main Street, Washington, LA

Time: 6:00pm Reception & 7:00pm Dinner

Three Opelousas residents will be honored May 14th for their contributions to the community.

Greg Bordelon and husband-and-wife Dr. Derek Metoyer and Lana Metoyer will be recognized at the Boy Scouts of America-Evangeline Area Council‘s 14th Annual St. Landry Parish Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner.

All proceeds from the event will benefit all Scouts of St. Landry Parish.

The distinguished citizens were chosen by a committee consisting of Teri Cober, Dr. Tom Darbonne, Dr. Lucius Doucet, Amanda Fontenot, Joe Fred Godchaux Sr., Richard M. Hollier, Dr. Thomas Jones III, Mark LeBlanc, Dr. Michael Montgomery, Maureen Little, Pat Morrow, Keith Myers, Earl Taylor and committee chairman David Williams.

Organizers of the dinner are Williams, Elvin Manges and Little, with assistance from Mark LeBlanc.

The event which begins at 6:00pm with a reception and a dinner being served at 7:00 pm, will be held at Wolff Hall, 202 Main St., Washington.

Tickets for the dinner are $125 for an individual, $500 for a Silver Sponsorship for four tickets, $1000 for a Gold Sponsorship for a table for eight and $2500 for a Platinum Sponsorship for two tables of eight.

The Evangeline Area Council serves about 4,500 – 5,000 Scouts in eight Acadiana Parishes, including St. Landry, Evangeline, Lafayette, Vermillion, St. Martin, Acadia, Iberia, and St. Mary Parishes.

Although the Evangeline Area Council encompasses those eight parishes, the money raised at the event will remain in St. Landry Parish.

Camp Cared Sale Dates: March 27th-June 1st

All about Camp Cards: Every scout has the chance to earn his way to a summer camp program or day camp program through this easy fundraiser. Simply pick up cards and begin to sell them at $5.00 each, keeping 50% commission for each boy who sells. It’s a no brainer! Cards will be available for pick up at the scout office (2266 S. College Road Ext. Ste. E Lafayette, La. 70508) or you can contact your District Executive to deliver them to you. Pick cards up early because limited quantities have been printed!

Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training

Fall 2011 Session
Indoor Session: October 22, 2011, Knight Scout Center, Lafayette 7:30AM - 3:00PM
Outdoor Session: December 2-4, Mt. Bayou Lake, St. Landry
Please register by sending in the above form to the office.

Spring 2012 Session
Indoor Session: March 10, 2012, Knight Scout Center, Lafayette 7:30AM - 3:00PM
Outdoor Session: May 4-6, Mt. Bayou Lake, St. Landry

This training is recommended for ALL SCOUTMASTERS, ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTERS, TROOP COMMITTEE MEMBERS, WEBELOS LEADERS, and CUBMASTERS. This is also a prerequisite to Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (Scoutmaster Outdoor Training).

During the indoor session, you will be assigned to a patrol, with whom you will be planning your outdoor session with. Please be prepared to attend the Outdoor session associated with your indoor session (Oct/Dec 2011 OR Mar/May 2012 courses).

Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

Saturdays 9 am - 12 pm (til May) We are closed for some holidays.
