Coushatta District Activities Welcome to the Coushatta District Page.  Message from the Chairman
My name is Tony Vidrine and I am the new District Chairman for the Coushatta District of the Boy Scouts of America. I am a product of the Scouting Movement and have earned my Eagle Rank as a youth.I am very excited about this position and look forward to working with everyone in the District. Boy Scouting has always been a big part of this area and I will do all I can to help the Scouting in this District. I look forward to working with each of you and hope that we can keep Scouting alive and well in this District.Message from the Commissioner
My name is Rev. Dr. Perry Hubbs, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Opelousas for the past sixteen years. I am looking forward to serving the Coushatta District as District Commissioner next year. I believe in Scouting, and was active as a youth achieving the Eagle rank, and have been active as an adult for the past five years in our local troop. I believe together we can see great days ahead for Coushatta District!Message from the Executive Hello Everyone. I have exciting news. We have the chance to be quality district for the 2008 calendar year. What needs to happen now is every unit needs to turn in their re-charters by Friday, October 17, 2008 deadline. Guys, popcorn season is underway. Leaders, encourage every scout along with educating parents on the importance of selling popcorn. Big THANK YOU’s to Becky Ducrest-Pack 18, Lynn and Jude Moreau-Pack 310 and Troop 144, Katherine Knight-Pack 399,Chastity Malveaux-Pack 121 for being our new 208-2009 unit commissioners. Let’s go Coushatta Family. I want to leave you a quote from Sir Robert Baden Powell once said “We never fail when we try to do our duty, we always fail when we neglect to do it.” Thanks Eagle Scouts are still alive and well in St. Landry Parish Tyler Sonbuchner, son of Jon and Susan Sonbuchner of Opelousas, has joined the elite list of Boy Scouts that have earned the right to be called Eagle Scout. Tyler, a sophomore at Westminster Christian Academy, received his Eagle Scout rank during an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony at Hope Presbyterian Church on Nov. 29th. He is a member of the Boy Scout Troop 144 chartered by the First Baptist Church of Opelousas. Tyler is pictured with his parents. Congrats to Pack 18 for their Summer 2008 Rain Gutter Regatta Family Day The SJB Pack 18 Summer 2008 Rain Gutter Regatta was a blast! The boys and their respective family members who attended had a great time. Please note that our first place winners from each category will be representing Pack 18 at the District races on July 26th at Camp Thistlewate as one of the Family Fun Day activities. In the event that the 1st place winner can not represent the pack for whatever reason, the runners ups will need to step in.    Way to go Pack 160 in Port Barre, LA.
