CAMP THISTLETHWAITE

Units shouldn't overlook Camp Thistlethwaite for a great camping weekend. As our original Summer Camp, Camp T provided a great setting for thousands of Scouts until Mt. Bayou was found.

Camp T is still alive and well. The dinning hall and pool are long gone, but the 50+ acres are still some fine camping. The lake / pond is still there and offers some fine fishing. It wasn't that many years ago that the pond was partially drained, cleared of the trash fish and restocked.

Plenty of room for privacy, close access to the campsites, plenty of trees and open spaces make Camp T a great choice for any type of camper. Some camp sites even have Bar-B-Que pits. Water is an iffy thing so be sure and ask if the pump is working. Even if you have to tote your own water, Thistlethwaite is a great camp.

Available upon request for special events is the Schad Pavilion which offers a fire place, table, stove, refrigerator and rest rooms. The old dining hall roof remains and offers a place to get out of the weather.
