CAMP STEENFive acres of dynamite; located right on the Vermilion, Steen offers camping, picnicking, convenience to Abbeville for those forgotten items. The pavilion offers fans, tables, stoves, water, restrooms. A recent adjacent covered area offers additional protection from the weather. The pavilion is used for everything from training to roundtables, from committee meetings to unit meetings. Steens is a favorite site for Cub Packs and Family camping, but don't be surprised to see a Boy Scout Troop enjoying the camp. Only one warning about using Steen. Be sure and reserve it with a tour permit far in advance. Steen is typically reserved every weekend of the year. Since it is only five acres it is limited to the number of units or activities it can accommodate at the same time. Back top Camping |
